    Overall a very good experience - staff are delightful. Evening meal in restaurant was very good indeed.

    The small glass shelf in bedroom required attention - was secured with only one bracket 7 therefore uneven.

    Excellent staff, breakfast very good,old standard values to service,rooms very clean with all facilities.

    Easy to reach and park the car outside Friendly reception desk - rapid booking in and departure Tray meals taken in room were served within ten minutes, good value and hot - excellent!

    Nothing really - fully accept that a hotel of this age is bound to have a few scruffs and scrapes

    "My Husband and I often stay here, indeed last time we stayed we also brought friends! The location of the hotel affords good off main street parking yet within a short walk you have access to many bars and restaurants. A little walk further and you have the beach. Access to other parts of Calais and other towns is also easy.........and to think we only discovered the place because our previous usual hotel let us down on one occasion!" (97113215)

    We are always impressed with the continued efforts of hotel staff. The rooms are always apacious and comfortable. We also appreciate the ability to make a cup of coffee in the morning! Cute dog in the foyer too!

    We loved the faded opulance of this hotel. It was so typically french and our room was very comfortable.

    "This was not really our sort of hotel but I can imagine that some would love it, especially older people. Despite the blast of the past design of the hotel, we actually thought there was little atmosphere and didn`t want to stay in the hotel in the evening, which we usually like to do. The whole experience was OK, with no complaints, but we wouldn`t stay again......under-whelming." (107314793)

    Oldey-worldly! Very clean. Very comfy bed. Quiet location. close to town centre.

    Restaurant menus too fussy, so ate in town. Breakfast expensive. Parking. 8 Euros a night (limited number) or park on street.

    Room was very clean; breakfast was reasonable, and the level of service by the staff was very good.

    Bits of the hotel are in need of renovation, and repair. There is no predetermined parking place outside of the hotel for disabled persons, and parking spaces can be at a premium sometimes.The hotel was cold,and we could not get any heating on in our room , or in the breakfast room either.

    Spacious family room. Modern bathroom facilities. Warm and cozy. Comfortable beds, lovely super clean, super white, super soft linen. Tea and coffee making facilities.

    "From the experience of my one nights' stay, I cannot find anything negative to say. The hotel had a genteel ambience, was quiet, clean and comfortable. There were interesting furnishings and pictures in the public areas and in my room and reflected a slightly faded elegance of a bygone era. The staff were friendly and helpful and, although my needs were few, I felt that (had I asked) nothing was too much trouble. Close to the centre of Calais, it was also convenient for an afternoon's sightseeing." (97458969)

    Quiet, discreet, comfortable, clean. Friendly and welcoming staff who were polite and kind. I liked having tea-making facilities in the room.

    Narrow chairs in the breakfast room (not everyone is petite)! And the kettle and cups in my room were perched on a shelf rather than on a stable table. Not particularly safe.

    The bed was comtortable ! The toilet and shower facilities were very good. Convenient to the shops and port.

    The general decor was a bit tired.

    "This 40 room hotel is in a very convenient location just off the Rue Royal and a couple of minutes walk from the Gare SNCF ( train station ) and the Place D Arms ( Town Square.) The hotel is nicely decorated and contains a wealth of antique furniture. Rooms are available as: standard, deluxe and deluxe with spa pool. A third bed is available for about 15 Euro per night. The Meurice bosts a fine restaurant and a small but very pleasant bar. I would certainly stop here the next time I am in town." (97985181)

    Very well furnished, polite staff, good location, rooms made up very well each day.

    The breakfat did not offer good value for money.

    "This is a comfortable and welcoming hotel, that is clearly not of the large chain / corporate style. The lobby and central stairs area contains a vaste amount of space, that is filled with pieces of furniture of varying styles. The overall effect is one of comfort. However, some of the rooms could do with a bit of basic decorating and there are bits of wallpaper starting to peel from the wall in some places." (97284012)

    the hotel was clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful.Overall there was a very relaxed atmosphere.

    The standard of breakfast was good but I prefer to have waitress service - a minor point

    The hotel is charming with antique furniture and 300 thread count bedlinen. The self-serve breakfast provides a very comprehensive selection. The location is very central, but suprisingly quiet considering how close it is to town centre.

    Approximately 8 steps with handrail to entrance hall, which is a problem for a wheelchair user. Thereafter, there is a lift and level access to all public areas.

    "We enjoyed are stay at the Meurice Hotel.All the staff were friendly even the dog! The inside of the hotel was like a trip back in time and the staircase was lovely, lots of old furniture.     "Only a 1 night stay and it served its purpose. The room had dated decor and could do with a re dec, although there was something charming about the room to! Bathroon was great in particular the jacuzzi bath although hot water took an age to come through. The bed was very comfortable. Furnished in an old style it was typically French although could do with getting the decoraters in. Only strange thing was hte ultra modern LCD TV that just didnt go with the room and the pay per view film option didnt work. Generally a pleasant hotel although I really do think it was expensive at over £100 per night with no breakfast." (97006681)

    The room and hotel were very comfortable but rather expensive, there was a limited amount at breakfast we had to ask for some bread and croissants on day one

    there was no heating in the room, the corridors were cluttered with extra furniture, the cold water dispenser did not work and there was no safe or fridge in the room

    "generally we enjoyed our stay, and will use the hotel again when we are in the area. your parking details do not allow us to pre book a private place, nor do they say how much it will cost. There are incidentally only 9 private places and we were lucky enough to be able to get one!! You do not state that the only way in to the hotel is by way of a flight of stairs to the front, there is no ramp for disabled people, so you have to climb i'm afraid, but apart from that, the hotel is by far the friendliest place we have stayed in at calais."     extremely friendly staff, helpful and polite. the room was very up to date for a fairly old hotel, and everything worked !!

    nothing really, perhaps the lack of parking would be a burden to some people, and they really don't cater for disabled people.

    "Overall this hotel is in a good location, very quiet, for the middle of a large town, the service was good, and parking in the garage, made us feel more secure leaving the car. We cannot give any views on the restaurant, as we never used it. The breakfast was adaquate, with a resonable selection, but the best things were the ability to have fresh squeezed orange juice from a machine where you placed your oranges, and a selection of coffee strenghts available from the coffee machine."     Bed was comfortable, room was nicely furnished, decoration was tired in places, tea/coffee making facilities were a nice addition as was the flat screen TV

    Could do with redecoration, and more attention to small details, we ran out of the liquid soap

    "The hotel is in a very quiet part of Calais but easily accessible to the town, seafront etc. Bedrooms were very clean and had the most fantastic antique furniture. Breakfast was delicious.     lovely white sheet and duvet cover as well as white fluffy towels. bed was very comfortable

    "Apart from the bathroom tile cleanliness, the accomodation was very good. It would have been nice to know the bar facilities were limited . However this was balanced by the fact the hotel was central. A car was not needed. Irrespective of the negative comments, it is a hotel we will book again." (97327970)

    The hotel was relaxing and informal. It was not modern 'plastic' accomodation. To have tea and coffee making facilities in a foreign hotel was a bonus. The bed linen and towels were excellent.

    We found only the bathroom to be in need of a good clean. The grouting was black and the window was similar.

    Expensive, poor quality bathroom fittings which did not work properly. Very poor breakfast and the Hotel bar did not have a wine list! It had two red wines available from boxes!

    we did enjoy the stay. its very close to the town. and the room was spacious.TV, accessable to alot of english channels

    the trouser press is not worth having. does not work properly. no mini bar in the room.
